Calling all Western Canada IT Pros and developers. Are you ready for Microsoft TechDays?
There is always more to learn in our industry. TechDays is the technology training conference for Canadian IT Professionals and Developers that you can't miss, and I am pleased to announce that I'll be presenting in three sessions in Vancouver on September 14th and 15th.
There is lots to learn. In one session, I will talk about DirectAccess, Microsoft's killer new remote access solution that allows users to access corporate resources (such as e-mail servers, shared folders, or intranet Web sites) securely without connecting to a virtual private network (VPN).
In another session I will spend some time talking about the Application Compatibility Toolkit and how developers can get their applications ready and tested for deployment on Vista and Windows 7.
And as a closing session for the event, Microsoft has asked me to do a session on some of the free tools that exist out there for IT professionals. I get to have fun with this one, as they have given me free reign to put my security background into play. So we will explore things like NMap, Wireshark, MBSA, SysInternal Tools, PowerShell etc. This will be a mostly demo session, as I demonstrate how to use these tools to make our day to day life easier. From scanning for vulnerable systems to customizing your own IE packages for deployment with IEAK, it should be an interesting experience.
