So tonight I am pleased to report that earlier today we released an update to the AuthAnvil RADIUS Server that provides expanded support to interop with Microsoft's Internet Authentication Server (IAS) and Network Policy Server (NPS).
Why is this important? With the introduction of RADIUS Group forwarding and the Proxy-State attribute, you can now forward RADIUS requests from a Network Policy Server directly to AuthAnvil. For environments using Windows Server 2008 as a base like Small Business Server or Essential Business Server, this means you can provide AuthAnvil's two-factor authentication to any NPS enabled policy, from VPN to TS Gateway access control.
In the next few days we will be releasing some new documentation on how to use this setup when configuring VPN support on SBS 2008. Until then, if you are familar with NPS you can set this up for yourself by adding a RADIUS Group and forwarding it directly to your AuthAnvil RADIUS Server. Of course, you will also have to download the latest version of the RADIUS Server (v3.1.0.5) to take advantage of this feature. You can download that directly from the Customer Portal.
Hope you like the new enhancements. We will use this base to document and deliver a slew of new strong authentication solutions driven on Windows Server 2008 through Microsoft's Network Policy Server.
Enjoy!
