I wrote a post a couple weeks ago on managing your AuthAnvil backups, and the response that we’ve received has been great. I’ve also had a number of questions to the support queue regarding how to use aabackup.exe, and how to figure out which SQL server AuthAnvil is installed to. With that in mind, we’ve written a little tool to make backups even easier: the AuthAnvil Backup Utility.
The backup utility is a simple vbscript; just double-click, and away you go. It’ll run through a couple checks to make sure that AuthAnvil is installed on the system, and figure out what version of AuthAnvil is running and give you the option to either backup now, or schedule a recurring backup.
The tool will automatically determine what SQL server and instance AuthAnvil 2.0 or later is using and run (or schedule) a backup, without any knowledge of the database system required by the user. This and many other cool tools are available from the AuthAnvil Diagnostic Tools page.
If you have any questions or comments, or have any tools that you’d like to see added to the diagnostic tools page, drop me a line at support@scorpionsoft.com and let me know.
